Duke
Of Edinburgh’s Award
Scheme
The South Eastern Education and Library Board is a Licensed Operating Authority
for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Northern Ireland. The Award is Personal
Development programme for Young People between the ages of 14-25 years. There
are three levels of Award, Bronze, Silver and Gold, participants are require
to successfully complete four sections, Service, Skills, Physical Recreation
and an Expedition, within each level to gain an award. A fifth section is required
at Gold level only, a Residential. The programme aims to assist Young People’s
development by introducing and developing new skills, encouraging teamwork
and assisting others through a range of enjoyable activities chosen by the
individual.
The Ten Key Principles of the Programme are:
