The provision of informal
educational opportunities, through a comprehensive range of Youth Services,
is a key element of the Board's holistic approach
to the social and personal development of individual young people.
The Mission Statement of the Youth Section "To promote the personal,
social and educational development of young people, enabling them to realise
their full potential as individuals and as participative and responsible
members of society" illustrates the participative nature of
Youth Services. This is based on the belief that personal development
can best
be achieved through enabling the individual to take and accept responsibility
for his/her own decisions, values, attitude and behaviour.
The Youth Section seeks to achieve its aims in ensuring the provision
of opportunities for young people through:-
- Sponsorship of Youth Organisations
- Professional and Financial Support to individual young people
- Curriculum Support and Guidance
- Leadership Training
- International Events
- Provision of Residential Education
- A comprehensive computerised Information Service
