ENROLMENT IN PRIMARY SCHOOL

Northern Ireland law requires all parents to send their children to school from the beginning of the school year following their fourth birthday, provided that it falls on or before 1 July. This is to ensure equitable treatment, so that all children may avail of a full seven years of primary education before transferring to post-primary education.

If you are a parent or guardian, you have a right to express a preference for the primary school you wish your children

to attend and you will be requested to nominate three schools in order of preference. You will find further information in the Board's booklet entitled "Enrolment to Primary Schools - Booklet for Parents" which is available from your local Primary School, Library or on request from our Transfer Section at Board Headquarters, Grahamsbridge Road, Dundonald, Belfast BT16 2HS Tel: 028 9056 6568, transfer.enrolment@seelb.org.uk
