Introduction

This section of the Board’s Website covers areas where financial or other assistance is provided to parents and students in certain circumstances and in accordance with the policies of the Board and the Department of Education. Free School Meals
Free School Meals are available for children aged 4-18 in full-time education who meet the eligibility criteria.
Maintenance Allowances
The areas described include Maintenance Allowances to help meet the cost of keeping children in full-time education after they have attained the upper limit of compulsory school age (16). The allowance is means tested on the basis of parental income.
Transport
Transport Assistance is provided in certain circumstances which are detailed in the relevant web pages. Also included are details of the Application Process and Answers to Most Frequently Asked Questions.
School Uniforms
The Board also provides financial assistance towards the cost of School Uniforms for pupils at primary, secondary, grammar, and special schools. PE clothing may be provided for 11-18 year old pupils who attend schools, or colleges/institutes of further and higher education if PE is part of the course. Applicants have to meet the eligibility criteria detailed in the uniforms page.
 
Student Support
The Student Support pages provide an Enquiry and Information facility to provide an electronic channel for student support. The site provides answers to Most Frequently Asked Questions, general information and a secure e-support section where students can track on line the progress of their application/financial assessment.
