SEELB Awards Evening for Outstanding Achievement Saturday 17 November 2001 Whitla Hall, QUBThe SEELB held its 3rd Annual Awards Evening in the Whitla Hall, QUB on Saturday 17 November 2001. The Awards Evening celebrated the achievements of over 40 pupils and young youth leaders in the SEELB area. Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented in the following categories: Sport, The Arts, Community Involvement, Pupils of Courage, Academic Success and Youth Leadership.The evening, which was compered by BBC TV Personality Donna Traynor, began with an evening meal followed by the Awards Ceremony. Music was provided by an ensemble from Regent House School Newtownards and several young solo performers linked with the SEELB Music Centre.Joining over 200 pupils, parents, principals, school governors and leaders of youth organisations were SEELB Board Members and public representatives from the SEELB area as well as representatives of prominent Education Organisations in Northern Ireland.SEELB Chief Executive, Jackie Fitzsimons, comments The achievements of our young people are worthy of recognition and celebration. The purpose of this evening is to celebrate achievement and to recognise in a tangible way individual pupils, young youth leaders, schools and youth groups. We are proud of the high quality of teaching and learning in our schools and of the high quality of youth service provision throughout the area. The event was sponsored by the following organisations - ICL, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Translink, Department of Education and Ulster Bank. Their representatives presented the Awards for the various categories. |
