If you
are housebound how can we help?
- relations
or neighbours may borrow books and other items for you
- if
you have no regular visitors who use our libraries, contact your local
library by phone or ring (028) 9756 6413 to talk to the librarian in
Special Services Unit
- you
may receive a service by mobile library or a driver volunteer, either
way you can access the full range of services just as you would in the
library
What other
special services do we offer?
- registered
blind people receive the RNIB Talking Book Service in their own homes;
partially sighted people who
- need
books only available on RNIB tapes may also get them delivered
- in
the Down and Lisburn Districts people with visual impairment receive
the SEELB postal books on tape service (in other areas delivered by
mobiles or volunteers)
- health
information about benefits and facilities for people with disabilites.
People with sight problems can have leaflets enlarged
What other
guarantees do
we give ?
- access
to libraries is reviewed annually where possible
- caring
support organisations who use library premises for exhibitions, committee
meetings and launches benefit from special rates and conditions
What kind
of client care do we offer ?
- our
staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful
- most
staff have had some training in helping disabled people, and all staff
undertake Deaf Awareness training
- our
Special Services staff are available Mon-Fri
9.00am - 5.00pm
- our
request service delivers at least 60% of items in stock in SEELB within
30 working days
- new
housebound clients are provided with a service within 3 months or given
an explanation if this is not possible
