Library Services
Introduction

WHAT IS THE LIBRARY SERVICE?

THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE SOUTH EASTERN EDUCATION AND LIBRARY BOARD IS TO:

"raise the standards of learning and achievement for the people of the area by provision of high quality education, library and youth services"

In practical terms libraries offer a place to explore learning, information and culture. This can include anything from finding the address of a local organisation, through pursuing a distance learning course, to working your way through the Booker Prize shortlist. Whatever your preference you'll find your library a pleasant place to visit with courteous, efficient and friendly staff.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • anyone who lives, works, studies in, or is visiting Northern Ireland may become a member. There are special facilities for children, elderly people and people with disabilities.
  • with a single membership card you can use any public library in Northern Ireland.
WHERE IS IT?
  • in 26 local libraries right across the Board area, from Newtownbreda on the outskirts of Belfast to Portaferry at the tip of the Ards peninsula
  • at over 550 stops on our mobile library routes
  • in over 230 residential homes and sheltered dwellings
  • in your own home if you are disabled.
