materials.
Did you know that the TROODON was the brainiest of all the dinosaurs?

events/projects section.
6. Activities
Most of our libraries have a regular weekly storytime for younger children
(generally age 3-7). Additional storytime events, events, and competitions
are held for special events such as Children's Book Week, World Book Day.
These events are advertised in advance and may require registration at the
library.
Our Summer Reading Scheme is known this year as the Summer Reading Carnival,
is free to all children aged 4 to 11. It runs from the end of June to the
beginning of September at 19 of our libraries. It's a fun way to enjoy reading
throughout the holidays. The challenge involves collecting reading record
cards for every two books read. A colourful certificate is awarded to everyone
who completes the challenge. That's not all-there are themed colouring sheets
for younger readers and older ones are invited to review the books they
read. Some libraries will also have linked activities like craft sessions
and storytimes. Displays of recommended reads will help point undecided
bookworms in the right direction. Check the What's On pages for details
of libraries involved.
Several of our libraries are part of the Bookstart scheme which aims to
bring babies, parents, books and libraries together. Promoted jointly by
health visitors and local libraries, this is a free promotion linked to
the 7-9 month health assessment.
Further details are available are available from your health visitor or
participating libraries (see grid).
