Leadership/Management Development Programme
For Newly/Recently Appointed Principals

The South Eastern Education and Library Board recognises the need for, and importance of, providing management support, training and development for Newly/Recently Appointed Principals in schools. In recognising this the Board considers the character and quality of the Principal to be the main influence in determining how effective a school is in achieving its aims and improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Preparing, inducting and developing Principals is a major responsibility of the Board's service and complements the support and training offered by other agencies such as the Regional Training Unit.

General Aims Of The Programme

  1. To provide training and support for newly/recently appointed Principals during the first year of their appointment.
  2. To enable Principals to develop a team approach amongst staff and involve all members of staff in the organisation, leadership and management of their schools.
