Chinese New Year

Introduction 引言

Children at Cairnshill Primary School, Killowen Primary School, Regent House Prep School and St Patrick's Boys' Primary School have made their own story books about the Chinese New Year. Lots of Chinese living in Northern Ireland know a great deal about the festival concerned - the dates and other practical matters - but know very little about the story which lies behind Chinese New Year. The book has been written and illustrated by the children concerned. Each story is bilingual - English/Chinese and is a delightful tribute to the energy and artistry of the children who were writers and illustrators. The book has been written phonetically as well as in characters so that Chinese children who can read English but not Chinese, can read the stories. The children's stories and illustrations can be viewed on this web site.
