Chinese New Year is coming soon. Mum is busy cleaning the house and preparing food to celebrate. She told me about a story about the year monster. The monster came on the first day of every year to eat the villagers. The people were very scared so they tried to put red paper on front of the house and light fire crackers to scare the year monster away. The monster was very frightened and ran away. Now the people celebrate the 1st day of the year. They use red paper to decorate the house and give red envelopes to children. It means good luck.
