CREATIVE & EXPRESSIVE STUDIES Creative and Expressive Studies encompass Art and Design, Music and Physical Education at Key Stages 1-4 and Drama and Media Education/Studies at Key Stage 4. These subjects, often referred to as 'the Arts', are an essential component of the curriculum. They provide opportunities for pupils to develop the full range of their abilities, to explore values and express feelings, to engage in creative thoughts and actions and to develop physical and perceptual skills. The richness and diversity of human culture is expressed and extended through the Arts. It would be difficult to imagine a world without drawing, painting, music or dance. Culture has been shaped by human creativity and an essential element of the Creative and Expressive subjects is the practice of generating and expressing new ideas, of encouraging imaginative and critical thinking and of questioning the way things are and the ways things have always been done. |
