Congratulations on qualifying as a teacher.

The induction process is integral to the professional development of BT’s within a school
context. During Induction BT’s will address the GTCNI Code of Values and Professional
Practice to develop as competent and reflective practitioners.

The overall aim of Induction is to support BT’s in their first year of teaching. Induction
is usually a year. However, if you are in temporary employment the process may take
slightly longer. It is important that you inform the relevant board the school (or home
if not attached to a school) you are teaching in to ensure you receive information on
Induction.

4. Course Information

All Beginning Teachers are entitled to professional development regardless of whether they are in temporary or permanent employment.

In the Induction year you have access up to 4 days substitute cover to attend courses.
