The
Board has a statutory responsibility under Article 37
of the Education and Library (NI) Order 1986 to provide
adequate Youth Services for its area. Through its Youth
Committee the Board has addressed this responsibility
by the provision of specialist youth facilities and
the support of youth organisations in the Voluntary
Sector of the Youth Service.

Based
on the principles of the social and personal development
of young people, through an informal education process,
the "Youth Service" provides a support framework
for young people to fully realise their potential and
maximise their unique talents and abilities. On the basis
of community ownership and responsibility, the Service
